rather late;
he was already eight.
But he was no fool,
worked a lot,
put his trust in God.
It took some time;
he also had to earn more than a dime
to pay for his studies.
Now he is an engineer
who builds houses for people in need.
One of his engineering buddies
used to see days
when the fire at home was lit
but nothing to eat.
Everything happens for a reason
although we don't always
understand God's ways.
During the 2010 earthquake he had to bid
farewell to his brother who like him
was an engineering student.
While it meant the end
of many human lives
it also was to begin
an emphasis on building code.
Our engineers have come from far
to get to where they now are.
Great examples they have set
their lives and work have a great impact.
Integrity and respect is their mode.
The home of the third engineer’s parents
was damaged in hurricane Matthew.
He was the one who got dirt on his hands
and drew
the design for houses and schools to renew
hope of more than a few.
Over one hundred families now live
in a safe and strong home.
Teachers at two schools now give
classes to hundreds of students
in an appropriate learning environment.
Three engineers have given it all
nothing to resent.
A big thanks to everyone who answered our call
to support the hurricane Matthew response.
It has made an enormous difference.
Glory to God
Who used each talented person
at the right spot.
